Dead Drop

Padauk and walnut end-grain blocks alternate across the surface. A sequence of staggered maple accent strips cuts through them horizontally at irregular intervals — short, deliberate, asymmetric. The padauk ranges from arterial red to near-black depending on where the end grain catches light. The walnut absorbs everything around it. Nothing about the pattern repeats predictably. That's the point.
