Meridian

Purpleheart, padauk, sapele, walnut, and maple end grain. Five species laminated into a single billet, then cross-cut and rotated to produce two faces that share the same material but read as different compositions. One face presents as horizontal banding — a wide purpleheart center band flanked by thin maple pinstripes, with warmer walnut and sapele courses above and below. The other face reduces to two pale vertical lines through a dark field, the maple accents surfacing as the only constant between two readings of the same wood. The name holds: a line that divides two hemispheres.
